Usually, payments up to CZK 500 are not verified by PIN code. Payments over CZK 500 are always verified by entering your PIN code.
However, for safety reasons, you can be required to verify the payment by entering PIN code anytime even for payments up to CZK 500.

You can pay by contactless card from UniCredit Bank in both standard and contactless POS terminals, withdraw cash from ATMs, deposit cash in ATMs of our bank or pay for goods and services in internet shops.
You can pay to merchants who accept MasterCard or Visa payment cards both home and abroad. You can pay contactless to all merchants who are equipped with contactless payment terminals. These merchants are usually indicated by the contactless payment symbol.

After taking over your new contactless card, you need to activate the contactless feature first, in particular through a standard transaction entering your PIN code (e.g. by ATM cash withdrawal or payment at a merchant - you insert the card into the terminal and your payment will be verified by entering your PIN code).
Contactless payment takes place by touching the card against the merchant's POS terminal (within the distance of max. 2 cm). Therefore, you don't have to worry that a contactless payment would take place without your knowledge.
When paying contactless up to CZK 500, there is no need to enter your PIN code to verify the payment. Contactless payments over CZK 500 are verified by entering your PIN code.
If a merchant doesn't have a contactless terminal, you can use your contactless card in a standard way; you or the staff inserts the contactless card into the terminal and payment will be verified by entering your PIN code or by signing the transaction receipt according to the signature specimen provided at the back of your card.
If your contactless payment was refused and you are sure that you have enough money on your account and the daily limit has not been exceeded, make the payment using the chip (by inserting the card into the terminal). You may be required to enter your PIN code even for amounts under CZK 500. This is our way to verify that the card is being used by the authorized person. For the next payments you will be able to fully enjoy the swiftness and comfort of contactless payments.
When observing the rules of safe payment card usage contactless payment is safe.
When the safety of your card is endangered (loss, theft), you shall block your contactless card as quickly and anytime as you would block a standard contact card.
When you first use your contactless card, for safety reasons, you will be required to enter your PIN code and make a standard transaction (payment at a merchant is made by inserting the card into the terminal or cash withdrawal from ATM). This way, we verify delivery of the contactless card into the hands of its authorized holder.

For safety reasons, you can be required by staff or by the POS terminal directly to make a standard payment by entering your PIN code (by inserting the card into the terminal). Hereby we are able to verify that the payment card really is in the hands of its authorized user.
What do I do if I 'm charged a transaction I haven't made?
At the closest branch of our bank, submit a written complaint about the transaction. We will verify the case and inform you in writing about the way of settling. Even in this case, we recommend that the client claimed the unauthorized or incorrect transaction without undue delay after having learned about it.
What do I do if the contactless payment cannot be done on a POS terminal?
If the POS terminal is not equipped for contactless payments, we recommend to make a standard (contact) payment by inserting your card into the POS terminal and entering your PIN code.
What does it mean for me to have a contactless card and how can I use it?
You will still have one card that will enable you all the usual means of usage - cash withdrawal, payments at merchants and contactless payments on top of that. The cards will remain hybrid. That means that they will contain the magnetic stripe, chip as well as the contactless chip enabling contactless payments.
What if my card is stolen and misused?
If your card is stolen, you should have it blocked at the bank's Infoline +420 221 210 031 as soon as possible. This applies for any case and any type of card.
What if my card is copied by fraudsters?
Contactless cards only work within minimum distance from the reader. Therefore it is unlikely that something like this happens by mistake or that the payment is made fraudulently by another person. Since the introduction of contactless cards, no increase in the number of misused cards has been recorded.
What if the same contactless payment is charged twice?
Double charging of one transaction is not technically possible. Even in case you touch the contactless terminal twice within a single transaction, the transaction will only be made once.
Is it possible to increase or decrease the limit of CZK 500 in the Czech Republic?
The limit amount for contactless payments without entering PIN code is fixed and cannot be changed. This is optimal both in terms of our card holders' comfort and safety. The limit amount is valid for the territory of the Czech Republic. This limit may be different in the territory of other countries.
Will I get a receipt from the merchant when paying contactless? How do I make a complaint about such payment?
In case of contactless payments under CZK 500, the receipt will only be issued by the merchant on your request. In case of contactless payments exceeding CZK 500, the receipt will be issued by the merchant automatically. You can make a complaint about a payment by card even if you don't have the receipt from the merchant.

How much can I pay contactless?
Without entering your PIN code, you can pay contactless any amount up to CZK 500 within one transaction. You can also pay higher amounts exceeding CZK 500, however, you will be required to enter your PIN code.
What are my limits for contactless payments and how can I change them?
For contactless payments at merchants, the transaction limit is set in the same amount as for standard (contact) payments.
Are there any additional fees charged for using a contactless card?
UniCredit Bank does not charge any fees for card payments at merchants, the same applies for contactless payments by card from UniCredit Bank.
When will I be able to get a contactless card?
UniCredit Bank issues contactless MasterCard cards from mid-July 2015 and will begin issuing contactless Visa cards during August 2015. A majority of the existing clients will get a contactless card after expiration of their previous card. Of course, if you would like to obtain a contactless card before expiration of your current card, feel free to apply for it.
When do I have to enter PIN code (or sign the receipt) if paying contactless?
PIN code is not required for contactless payments up to CZK 500. You will be required to enter PIN code or sign the receipt for payments exceeding CZK 500.
When will I see all my contactless payments in my internet banking?
All contactless payments are displayed in internet banking after being posted in the transaction history.
Can I make a contactless payment somewhere accidentally?
o make a contactless payment, the card needs to be very close to the terminal (less than 2cm), which prevents the card to be read by another device. The purchase amount will only be charged once, even if you would touch the card against the terminal several times. However, the terminal may require you to insert the card and enter PIN code. This is for safety reasons only, the payment amount does not matter in this case.
Why do I have to make the first payment with a new contactless card in a standard way?
In order to be sure that the payment card got into the right hands, the first payment at a merchant has to be made in the standard way. This is to increase its safety.
Why do you issue contactless cards?
These days, more and more clients prefer to use a card for smaller payments. It is not always possible to pay by card. There may be various barriers – you don't want to cause delays in the queue, some merchants require a minimum payment amount from which the card is accepted or the merchant does not accept cards at all.
These are the main reasons why are we bringing the contactless technology enabling to pay for small purchases up to CZK 500 without entering PIN code. This way, you can pay for your everyday purchases quickly and simply.
Why is the new contactless card better?
This may be expressed in three words – speed, safety and comfort. Contactless payment card will enable you to withdraw cash from ATMs, pay in a standard way (by inserting the card in the terminal) as well as contactless (touching the card to the terminal).
Currently I have a contact card, can I exchange it for a contactless one?
We will exchange your card for a contactless one automatically after expiration of your current card. However, if you wish to have the contactless card earlier, feel free to visit your banking advisor and your card may be issued even before expiration of your current one.
Will I retain all the methods of use of my standard (contact) card?
The current methods of use will be retained - the contactless card has a magnetic stripe, chip and new contactless chip enabling the contactless payment. You can use your card for payments at all merchants, ATM cash withdrawals, internet payments as you are used to.
